Enough votes cause a bug to be automatically confirmed
What the sense of confirmed bug status if u can confirm your own bugs? Somebody else should do it.
You cannot confirm your own bugs unless you have triage or higher access. This bug is not confirmed.

A person with enough bugzilla privileges already does a job of confirming a bug once there is a comment from another person who is able to reproduce the problem. Voting adds nothing except useless e-mail spam.
In rare cases the bugs do get confirmed by votes. Theoretically it's a useful idea, but as you say, the Wine triage team are pretty on-the-ball.
Perhaps voting should simply be disabled, or all emails about them should be suppressed? It does seem fairly pointless getting emails about votes.
Either way, the reporter's vote is just as valid as yours or mine.
