Derrick, author of a tool named Winelocale, comments: "He is correct in that font links are key, but you also must have the right codepage."
I'd like to clarify that having the right code page means that Linux locale must be set correctly, i.e. be japanese/chinese/korean and not say en_US.UTF-8.
Wine bugzilla has plenty of samples how to correctly setup font links for CJK locales, it would be great if someone would add that info to the wiki.
