No update for over 900 days. No download Is this still an issue in 1.5.30 or is this abandoned ?
...it still appears to be a problem wrt wine-1.5.30 on debian wheezy with nvidia 310.xx drivers..although the behavior (still) continues to change. Wrt the demo, it always starts reliably with emulated desktop mode enabled -- ingame options will expose 4:3 aspect video modes up to 1280x1024 ; they work...
..with emulated desktop mode *disabled*, the game simply tries to initialize and hits a blackscreen -- sometimes it will popup an 'error trapper' window letting you know the "windows unknown driver" failed in some way...but no go....(native display res is 1680x1050)...
..conversely, with emulated desktop mode *disabled* and with the default primary display resolution set to 1024x768 (via nvidiaconfig gui), the game *will* launch successfully -- further, the ingame video options will now also display some widescreen resolutions (1280x720, 1280x960, ..), however if you try to select one of these, an error pops up saying 'unable to switch mode' or such...
..ftr, the demo version I used is available on cnet -> http://download.cnet.com/RollerCoaster-Tycoon-2/3000-2119_4-10194120.html (use the direct link) <- and the original CD version which I own (+ nocd) behaves pretty much the same... (that is to say the demo download includes trymedia drm portions the original does not)...(and you may need ie6 in the same wineprefix to get that drm to go)
...oh, and munging xorg.conf to include "Modes" lines for 8, 16 & 24bit depths @ the various resolutions to game looks for doesn't seem to help any... ;)
