--- Comment #12 from chris letsclimbhigher@gmail.com 2008-09-12 15:39:50 --- I had the above issues as well and can confirm I eventually got it to patch and work. I'm using a 1.0 wine version compiled by someone for the eee pc.
I needed to patch from 17.9.1 to 19.9.3 if memory serves. Tried downloading both patch steps and using wine to execute them but that never worked. And running AnarchyPatcher.exe with wine wasn't working for me either.
So I then: I had to mod-probe a sound module (probably only matters to eee pc) Then I had to google and put mfc42.dll in the windows directory with all the other .dll's. Then I had to run it using wineprefix IEs4Linux. Even then it may not have worked the first time. So you may have to repeat starting up AO and hitting the 'patch' button after selecting a server a few times before it eventually works. It then patched up the two version steps I needed and ran.
Sound is glitchy and I have to work on that some (going to try w/o the above module probed and see if sound still works)
And even on the most simple settings (which didn't change much anyway) this game dogs on an eee pc 1000 (1.6Mhz). The pointer moves annoyingly slowly. Still it's close to playable.
