--- Comment #2 from Wolfman gtk-ta@gmx.de 2008-02-26 15:48:33 --- Tried that, but after two hours of trying to fix dependency hell I decided I will be leaving fiddling with such details to the people who deal with the wine source on a regular basis.
However, I managed to pin down the problem a bit more precisely. There seems to be a character encoding issue as for some reason the .dat-file that holds user history and alike gets corrupted. It is possible to rename that file, launch miranda, create a new profile and then import the data from the old file (even though miranda will complain about a 'faulty settings chain') and everything will work until the file gets corrupted again and somehow keeps miranda from displaying the program window.
Also, as I have found by now, the problem not only is triggered by clicking the system tray icon, but also by minimizing all windows on the respective workspace by clicking the minimize all icon and perhaps also by the screensaver being activated, even though I have not yet been able to reproduce the latter on a reliable basis.
When experimenting, I also found that with an empty user.dat file, the problem disappears. But obviously, having no contacts in your IM program doesn't make too much sense.
