--- Comment #2 from S. Wilcox scw189@cox.net --- This does not occur when the Wordpad app is running under Wine (have not tried Notepad) and text insertion point operation seems normal in apps running outside of Wine. It is puzzling how the Legacy9 operating under Wine can affect those apps running simultaneously outside of Wine. I believe that there must be common system code that is shared by the apps under Wine and the apps outside of Wine. Somehow multiple apps inside and outside of Wine are interfering with each others use of the function for the text insertion point cursor.
Also, thinking about this further, I think this may be a mouse function, common code, issue, not keyboard. The mouse click sets the location of the text insertion point cursor. With control of the text insertion point being in contention from multiple apps, it is very difficult to enter keyboard characters. Also puzzling, is the 'time-out' observed. After setting the insertion point, it stays for several seconds (when you can enter text) and then disappears (and then, of course, you can't enter text).
