In current git (1.2), I am unable to reproduce this. The character behaviour is as expected.
do you test this with 1 single usb keyboard? there isn't a bug with 1 single usb keyboard.
the bug only hurts if you have 1 usb keyboard+1wlankeyboard on the same PC...
