Been trying this patch added to 1.4 source and used with Wineskin in OSX 10.7 with an ATI HD 5770 1024Mb GPU. Now the game starts good ( if using Virtual window and a set resolution doesn't matter what size as long as there is one), login, character creation the whole thin goes real nice. I can start the game as well . Now the problem I have and that a lot of other people most likely have as well is the stuttering. I have been trying to read through this thread and I am wiling to try to help out even though my skills are on an amateur level ( Though I have sys admin skills in background, these type of coding /hacking/software stuff is NOT my strong side :D ). I ran a debug in wineskin while running the game but it spat out a 22Mb large file. If I knew what areas in the Debug file would be of interest to this community I would gladly post it somewhere on the net and link it here.
TI have been using the Wineskin as I said and the one that seems to be working nicely ( WITH stuttering) is this one: http://portingteam.com/index.php/files/file/7187-star-wars-the-old-republic/....
Now the stuttering is in starting areas okey, happens for a second or two once a minute, but go off to a main world and we talk MAIN stuttering ala Headache!
Yes the stuttering part seems to be less in Linux, My bro did the patching and got the game to run under the patched wine on his Kubuntu 11 what ever the latest version now a days is:D. His stuttering is almost non existing compared to mine. It seems to have a larger impact on the OSX wine community though.
The wineskin port is made by me. The uploaded version uses the first patch as other ones breaks winedebug and does not bring any perfomance boost nor solve any issues. The other patches break vanilla wine as well (wine available trough macports). So this problem is not related to custom wineskin build process
