The mentioned single-core AMD Athlon II Neo K145 CPU is really a slow one. It can be said that it is by today's standards a super-slow processor. This is also noticeable during the installation of Office 2010. Everything is more "leisurely". And if I read the comment 25 of Zebediah Figura then this is the key point in the whole matter here. The installer runs mostly too fast and crashes therefore at the 50% mark.
@Andreas Christ, maybe you must look for an even slower system and set up a Wine 6.0.2 prefix including Office 2010 on that machine. When done, just copy the whole prefix over to the new PC. In my case this worked perfectly well.
