I tried the demo with Wine-1.3.5 and no such problem: the brightness level can be adjusted properly in the game. Indeed, the problem was present with the reported version and up until Wine-1.1.30. The commit that fixed the issue is: 7b285a4ebd63eab428e968968ca398cc1076324a
Please, consider marking it as either abandoned or fixed.
