Even better, there are native OpenAL drivers on some platform that talk directly to sound hardware.
Unfortunately not on linux :-(.
You forgetting that Wine runs on multiple O/S, not just Linux. How many platform does PA runs on?
winepulse existence would help a lot addressing problems that arises when using winealsa on Pulse-enabled systems.
No, it "solves" artificial problems that PA introduced to those systems in the first place.
That is also a dull reality. Wine works perfectly with native ALSA+dmix or native OSS
So what more do you need?
but there are a lot of issues when using it in conjunction with Pulse.
They are not issues they are bugs in PA. And I've yet to see PA fixing any them.
And in the future using OpenAL as the multi-platform standardized backend.
OpenAL is an offtopic really for this bug
Oh yes, it does. You've being told that instead of adding "yet another dysfunctional sound driver" Wine making a transition to _one_ and _only one_ sound driver. And no it's not a pulseaudio.
