Gentlemen, I made the game ran after making a manual correction to
Variables.txt.
I have reduced the screen resolution to 1024x768.
> height=768
> width=1024

So, now it works, but the sound quality is poor. And there is the sound of
intermittent crackle effect (I'm on Pulse Audio). Motions, scrolling are quite
slow, but the game is playable.
And just one more thing

I don't know why, the game identifies my video card (ATI Radeon HD 4250) as
ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT.
