Confirming that this is still present in 1.3.34:

Starting validation of Left 4 Dead 2
Validation failure: w:\games\steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead
2\left4dead2\bin\client.dll
Validation complete: 51984 Total Files, 1 Failed Validation

This is now running from an Ext4 partition (as opposed to BtrFS when I first
reported it).  The system is a completely reinstalled - Ubuntu 12.04-alpha1
w/3.2r4(mainline) kernel.

The game appears to work fine for me otherwise.
