I did as you suggested, with clean wineprefixes for each version, from 0.9.39
to 0.9.43
Mouse control and framerate improve on all versions when debug messages are
suppressed with WINEDEBUG=-all

I have yet to complete regression testing in  regards to the messed up graphic
and subsequent interrupted gameplay, but I've nailed down the "good" version at
0.9.41 and the "bad" version at 0.9.42
