I use the german OEM version, which has 2 big advantages:
1. you won't need dvd in drive to play (copy protection)
2. it's not 4CD's but one single dvd ;)

I notice the rain and engine sound continue until I kill the process, but they
do not react to throttle or atc (air traffic control)...
