I would expect that it has to have working packets at some point (or the game wouldn't function), is the "join game" at the point when it fails under Wine or does Wine fail sooner than that?
Hi, the "join game" is at the point when the game fails under Wine (if I good understood Your question). The same situation is the "create game" - the game fails under Wine at the point when I have selected options and pressed "Create game". I.e., all things are pointing to this: The game crashes under Wine at the time when the game wants send the broadcast packet. And the broadcast packet should be really sent into network.
Some small additional note: Maybe better term is: the game "freezes", not crashes. I.e., game goes into neverending loop: It displays Windows dialog window with error message and waits. But when I click on the OK button, the message window is displayed again, because game tries to send new broadcast packet etc., and this loop will never finish...
