It has pretty good ratings. I am not exactly sure what appdb tips I should follow.
Can you try with more recent wine 2.x series?
I've tested it on 2.14 version, it crashes at every race start with clean wineprefix, if openal is installed, it starts the race but it crashes soon afterwards (depending on graphic quality and map).
