The above patch is just a modified version of 
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=17538

It does fix the problem, however without the mem=4G kernel option, World of
Warcraft was loading in a hidden way.  I could see the process, and hear the
background noises on the login screen, but I could not get the thing to show
up.

Anyway, I'm happy for now, so I'll leave it to someone more capable to fix it
up so I can remove the mem=4G kernel option... I like extra memory :)
