I did exactly what you did a few moments ago, and when I got to the iexplore step, iexplore loaded up, asked for Gecko (I installed it), then crashed shortly thereafter. It produced similar backtrace results as I had gotten before. I really don't understand where the problem lies (I've got alot to learn, *sigh*) but if I were to take a guess I would assume it to be related to KDE. On my last setup (Ubuntu 7.04 with wine 0.9.46, before my current fresh installation of Kubuntu 7.10 with the current version of wine) on this machine Gecko worked without crashing issues. Notice the backtrace I attached from the crash from iexplore.
