--- Comment #22 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
this ticket has been recycled multiple times for different issues. Lets make it about the black window/user interface on startup.
I've tested a number of Wine versions and here are my results for documentation:
* Wine 1.4 -> shows window but client area doesn't render, systray responds * Wine 1.5.12 -> shows window but client area doesn't render, systray responds, crashes on exit * Wine 1.5.13 -> shows black window, systray responds, crashes on exit * Wine 1.6 -> shows black window, systray responds * Wine 1.8 -> shows black window, systray responds * Wine 2.0 -> shows black window, systray responds * Wine 3.0 -> shows black window, systray responds * Wine 4.0 -> shows black window, systray responds * Wine 4.19 -> shows login dialog, exits ok * Wine 5.0 -> shows login dialog, crashes on exit (no login performed) * Wine 5.5 -> shows login dialog, exits ok
... and the winner is:
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/2ac268436b535ed35c82aa2d5c... ("user32: Fix coords in WINDOWPOS for WM_NCCALCSIZE sent from SetWindowPos()."), part of Wine 4.19 release.
I've already found quite a number of applications from old tickets that suffered from the same issue hence I will keep a prebuilt Wine 4.18-48-g2ac268436b5 in future for quick testing.

Resolving as dupe of bug 10600 ("Multiple applications using skinning have distorted/unusable GUI (ABC Amber LIT Converter 2.0, GSA Search Engine Ranker v7.25)") because it's the oldest one.
