--- Comment #43 from Wine? Gimme Beer! furex.furetto+wine@gmail.com 2008-06-28 11:10:51 --- Until someone approaches the problem with some creative thinking, it won't be fixed any time soon, I recommend reading the comments by Anastasius Focht who explained why eMule is so resource-hungry under Linux.
Regarding eMule viability: anyone that uses ED2K on a regular basis knows native clients suck so bad that, besides ditching ED2K entirely, eMule is the only thing that works at acceptable speeds.
aMule 2.1.3 is a sorry excuse, given its awkward interface (just look at the search engine screenshots on amule.org!), the prehistoric set of features and the sheer amount of bugs affecting it.
OTOH version 2.2 has been utter vaporware, perpetually claimed to be on the verge of being released Real Soon Now(tm), for *over* *two* *years*, that is until a couple weeks ago. It isn't officially available through my distro yet, and I have very little faith in the developers, but I will give it a spin as soon as the new package shows up.
