Specifically...

In Makefile, replace .c.o rule with these.  (The first one cancels the
built-in .c.o rule.)

%.o : %.c

.c.s:
        $(CC) -S $(ALLCFLAGS) -o $@.tmp $<
        $(TOPSRCDIR)/tools/asmfixer <$@.tmp >$@
        $(RM) $@.tmp

And add this in tools/asmfixer:
