--- Comment #17 from Rik Shaw rikshaw76@gmail.com --- Thank you all for the work done so far.
I can confirm the need for using winver of Vista or Windows 7. The reason is that complex ibus keyboards will not be able to be keyed in Office 2007 otherwise. The other reports of people having trouble keying in ibus keyboards indicate to prepend "env XMODIFIERS=''" to the exec statement to work around the problem, but this just disables ibus input for Office. To type with my ibus keyboards, the only solution is to use a winver of Vista or newer, which then gets us back to the point of this bug.
I am running Ubuntu 14.04, with playonlinux providing versions 1.6.2 (this gives the "crash" on attempting to save) or version 1.7.51 (this just does not save, but does not crash, as others have reported).
Thank you for any help. This is a critical issue for us as we support minority language keyboards and have many legacy Office 2007 documents that simply do not render well with LibreOffice. New document creation is of course going to LO native format, just this pile of legacy stuff! Our users will not be able to successfully manage the complexity of running Windows in a virtual machine inside of Linux, so this bug is key for us to be able to migrate to Linux.
