As an additional note, though it may be obvious to some already, since there is
a noticeable effect on the performance without the mentioned commit as well, I
imagine it's possible that the actual issue is only exacerbated by said commit.

In that sense, this might not be regression per-se, but instead, just making an
already existing issue more noticeable.

Or the issues might be completely separate, of course.  :]
