Can't we stop focusing on crypt32? We are beyond that since long ago but since you ask, I did try it briefly and and it seemed to work but it was just a quick test.
In that case, this bug is invalid. It only appears when you use native crypt32 from old versions of Windows. Newer versions of Windows do not work this way, as your test case demonstrated.
