On which linux distribution is this stack smashing showing?
I tested with 2 different distributions, so I don't think that the problem is specific to some particular distribution.
I noticed that wine-staging 8.17.1 was released. Running 'wine winver' with an existing 64-bit prefix or an attempt to create a new one using wine-staging 8.17.1 no longer shows *** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated and simply hangs instead.
I also not able to reproduce the issue. wine-staging 8.17.1 was to fix a compile error for redhat. Can you please specify what redhat version? so we can duplicate that environment.
