If the problem is caused by missing glyphs, the wine should start using fontconfig or equivalent for matching font and use replace font file automatically. It's not just the CJK glyphs might be missed. There are many other non-latin charsets might be missed from any system fonts. Currentlly, it seems wine use font substitutes register to alleviate the problem, but it does not work very well and not transparent to the users.
Wine has introduced a builtin Tahoma replacement in order to fix a lot of problems caused by the fact that Tahoma glyph widths are not compatible with other replacement fonts. So, it's not a solution at all to hide one bug by going backwards, and make lots of old bugs re-surface in exchange.
