The problem is not when importing images: all images are correctly imported.
It's only when displaying images in the library.

For example, suppose that in LR 5 I import 800 images coming from two
directories 'test1' and 'test2', both subdirs of a directory 'test', with 400
images in test1 and 400 images in test2.

In each directory, the 400 images are correctly imported and displayed in
library and film strip. This can be seen by pointing on each directory in the
left pane of LR.

Then, if I point on the parent dir 'test', I only see 655 images in the library
and 455 in the filmstrip. The other images are there in the catalog, but not
displayed.
