[Bug 9522] Text entry box does not refresh properly, but worked in v 0.9. 20 and below

I'll do that when I get home this evening and respond here with the commit
point. Hopefully it won't take too long. I'm honestly unsure which component is
really the one that's 'faulty' so I'll probably have to go through quite a few
recompiles and such.
