Does anyone get good (i.e. comparable to Windows on same hardware) framerates in PvP?
I fixed this today, and it had nothing to do with wine.
The culprit was an interaction between swtor.exe, my CPU, and Linux. My CPU allows the OS to scale down the CPU frequency during low loads. For some reason, swtor.exe convinced the OS it didn't need full power, so the OS left all cores idling at 800 MHz (3GHz CPU).
This didn't happen with WoW, though I do remember occasional slowdowns that might have been freq scaling.
The solution was to turn off "Cool and Quiet" in the BIOS, and lock all cores at 3 GHz. Hopefully this will not burn out my CPU, but the system is 3 years old so whatever.
Not sure if XP did a better job of scaling the CPU, or if it just didn't bother trying. But I really don't care, because now I can PvP without booting into XP :)
