If you are working on this bug, if it is a bug, I will indicate that I was running Ubuntu Linux 9.10 and there was some Microsoft +Net 2.0 that Slingbox installed or attempted to install. For some reason +Net failed, but SlingPlayer continued to install itself.
You should install .NET before running application installer. Use 'winetricks dotnet20' to do it properly (http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks).
I am too stupid for Linux and installing this SlingPlayer. You can close this case. I will just go back to Windows 7 to watch SlingPlayer.
Frustrated with both Windows and Linux (too many command line issued commands, I have been spoiled using GUIs).
Thank you for your efforts. T.
