nVidia 8800GT, 177.13 beta driver, no non-default Wine settings and overrides
(but TF2 running with -dxlevel 81 as needed to actually play the thing at all).

This does not appear to be an nVidia related bug, as someone has suggested to
me that they have a similar issue with an ATI card.
