--- Comment #334 from DL dredgingthelake@gmail.com 2013-09-25 08:56:27 CDT --- Just to elaborate on my previous post here is some hardware/software information:
GPU: 660GT CPU: 2500K@4.4Ghz Gentoo ~AMD64
Here are some more benchmarks:
Witcher 1
1.7.1-csmt = 70 FPS 1.7.1-csmt + threaded-opts = 65 FPS 1.7.1-csmt disabled = 29 FPS 1.7.1-csmt disabled + threaded-opts = 29 FPS
1.7.1-vanilla = 40 FPS 1.7.1-vanilla + threaded-opts = 50 FPS
So 1.7.1 with CSMT enabled is the best result at 70 FPS and 1.7.1 with CSMT disabled is the worst at 29 FPS. Nvidia's threaded opts only helps with vanilla wine in this case
Witcher 2
1.7.1-csmt = 43 FPS 1.7.1-csmt + threaded-opts = 38 FPS 1.7.1-csmt disabled = 32 FPS 1.7.1-csmt disabled + threaded-opts = 34 FPS
1.7.1-vanilla = 23 FPS 1.7.1-vanilla + threaded-opts = 24 FPS (glitches)
1.7.1-csmt is the best result again with 43 FPS and vanilla wine is the worst at 23 FPS. Threaded-opts doesn't really help in either case. Interestingly even with CSMT disabled there is some performance increases over vanilla wine.
Some overall very nice increases for both games, especially when just using CSMT alone.
