I'm sorry if this is a bit OT/discussion that does not belong in bugzilla, but:

If, say, the nvidia-driver and X somehow do not provide the needed
functionality, there is nothing wine can do about that. (See the xinput2-story)
It could also be a bug in the driver.

In those cases, we can only wait till the problems beyond our control are
solved, or provide a workaround/hack in the meantime.
And this workaround is the virtual-desktop window ;)

So, I suggest we resolve this bug as invalid, and you open a new bug if you
figure out the exact problem, like you said.
