A lot of 32bit japanese games seems to be affected by this issue. Some fan
games like this one or for example Touhou Sky Fight(not even sound in that
one).
A good amount of visual novels are also impacted, some steam games are the Y's
series, Wonderful Everyday Down the Rabbit-Hole, Baldr Sky, they all need
lavfilters in order to work. Here is a visual novel compatibility list

Lavfilters seems to replace the entire wine's directshow gstreamer back end,
but without it usally, only the sound works, or in some case it can also hang
the game.
