--- Comment #16 from Paul Brüll paul.bruell@gmail.com 2013-06-16 06:38:58 CDT --- Hello, When using the exact same settings as described below and wine 1.5.4 and some raw input patch (using play on linux wine 1.5.4-xliveless3-rawinput3) the textures do not flash. must test further though...
The following is with wine 1.5.31
i think there are multiple problems here, as i only have a geforce gtx 660m i cant state how its on an amd graphics card. but when i first start the game there are no textures on the ground or buildings, everything is kinda beige coloured. smoke, fire and shadows kinda smear across the screen. its unplayable. then i searched around and found a youtube video where someone suggested playing around with GLSL support and strict draw ordering. it got better with GLSL disabled and strict draw ordering enabled. next i enabled antialiasing on its lowest setting (doesnt matter which setting really, only matters that its enabled.) that way i had the best results. post effects kinda seem to smear the shadows a bit but only sometimes... any other setting did not affect the glitches at all.
now i can see all textures. but groundtextures flash in and out of view beeing replaced sometimes by white or black colour. around the player char is an area where the texture is constantly black or white. it all depends on camera angle, or maybe even the ground angle. planes appear to be less flashy than mountain areas the grass and shrubs help in visibility of the ground but hinder the sight when lying flat on the ground. and since arma 2 doesnt have that extra grass level texture for great distances, you are visible over great distances anyways.
sometimes the textures on buildings (also runways) change to black when i am at a certain distance to it. sometimes when in a barn, the interiour buildings textures change to that beige coulour, but the items stay normal( crates and haystacks etc.)
i would not recomend people who are prone to seizures or react to flashing lights to play this way, but other than headaches i had no problems so far.
