Hello, obviously I'm late to the party but I'm trying to play Black&White using Wine at the moment. Everything is working fine except for this flickering issue. Some people are talking about a fix for the bug, unofficial or not I dont care. But can someone please explain to me how exactly I'm supposed to download these fixes? I'm no master programmer, nor do I know how to really use the terminal all that much and when I follow the attachment pages I just see text. Can anyone please help me? This page does seem sort of active still in 2017 this month so I am hoping I get a reply! Thank you so much!
How do you install wine at the moment?
Hello! Thank you for your quick reply. I'm not sure if this is the information you want but here is what I've done so far. I downloaded Wineskin Winery, set up wine 2.3 as my engine, using Wine-2.6.2. Afterwards I made a wrapper and proceeded to install black and white. The only modification I did to my game was replace one of my filed in order to allow me to play CD free.
If there is more info about this I can provide please let me know!
Furthermore, everytime I seem to launch my game via test run on my wrapper, the rapper seems to crash almost instantly before my game starts playing. The game itself runs almost perfectly with the only two issues I've found being that music will not play (an issue I think I can resolve). But the key issue is simply that the game will not stop flickering at all and the flickering gets worse with increased brightness. Also, black and white has no windowed option - I tried to window it via my wrapper but since it crashes I dont know if this works or if the game just cant be shrunk down. Flickering is the only true issue but it seriously impairs my ability to play the game at all.
Anyways like I said If I failed to answer what you were looking for please let me know!
