Does that mean that you don't see this bug?

I tested with 2 different distributions, so I don't think that the problem is
specific to some particular distribution.

I noticed that wine-staging 8.17.1 was released. Running 'wine winver' with an
existing 64-bit prefix or an attempt to create a new one using wine-staging
8.17.1 no longer shows
*** stack smashing detected ***: <unknown> terminated
and simply hangs instead.
