I imagine it works fine for lots of people, but is specific to my combination
of hardware and software.  Since it only happens on wine applications, and not
other Alsa apps, I thought to look here first.

Is there any set of tests I can run or ways to get a better insight into what
the problem could be (whether wine, alsa, or me)?
