P.S. Upon re-reading the thread, I think there is some confusion over Red Baron 3D and DosBox. Red Baron 3D doesn't use DosBox. DosBox is only for Red Baron 1. GOG's installer for the Red Baron pack forces you to install DosBox even if you don't install Red Baron 1, which confused me at first too, made me think RedBaron 3D was a game requiring DosBox. But, in fact, Red Baron 3D is a regular windows app. I have Red Baron 3D running on both Windows 7 and OS X (minus joystick functionality in OS X of course) without DosBox. So where Red Baron 3D and DosBox don't see a joystick, those are actually two different examples of applications not reading the USB HID device through Wine in OS X.
This would be correct, apols for not mentioning as much...it was during my test of the GoG Red Baron pack that I discovered dosbox wasn't seeing USB HID ; you are right, Red Baron 3D doesn't use dosbox ; that said, if USB HID is working in linux with dosbox, same should be so for OSX. Dosbox just stands out as a test target in my mind, as it's open source and the devs will be able to exactly determine what input method the win32 port uses that isn't working in OSX with wine. Sorry for any confusion.
