[Bug 25256] Source based games won't start

I've reinstalled Wine, started a new C: drive, reinstalled Steam, and copied my
TF2 files over.

I still can't run the game without disabling gameoverlayrenderer.dll
Or use Steam community in game

It's Ubuntu 10.04
Wine 1.3 from PPA
Winetricksed in d3dx9
(doesn't work with it off either.)
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHZ
2GB DDR2

Anyone got any insights? it sounds like others managed to fix this.
