Uploading crash report as it could be related to this bug - Civ5 crashes some 10 secs into launching a new game, regardless of chosen nationality. Running Ubuntu 12.04.4 with wine 1.4 on Lenovo laptop (i7 + nvidia graphics), Civ5 Gods+Kings through Steam (overlay disabled).
