The *Ubuntu* package seems to be correct, i.e. just from examining some previously affected functions, I don't see the stack protector being used. The *Debian* package is still affected, which aligns with the -fstack-protector-strong flag still being present in the build logs. So it would seem that the DEB_CFLAGS_MAINT_STRIP option is functioning as intended.
