I think solving this bug will solve a lot of memory leaks/bugs from the implementation of Direct3D. The screen goes black after the loading screen. I have Windows XP installed, and I'm running WINE from RedHat Fedora Core 1, with kernel 2.6.3 (on an AMD Barton). I can only see the following error message if I press ALT-TAB, and the Wine-dbg> prompt appears after it:
