I did as well, played for about an hour with no issues.   Then I disconnected
from the server for a while but left TF2 running.  Later I reconnected and the
bug (or at least the same symptoms) appeared after 5 minutes. (ahhh nuts!) 
Exiting (killing wineserver, etc.) and restarting Steam didn't help at that
point.. within 10 mins the symptoms always re-appeared.

If I leave myself connected to try and wait it out I always get disconnected
(client timed out).
