- some truetype fonts are broken with ubuntu (and maybe outside too) due to a fontconfig issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1195799
- but, even if fonts-opensymbol is installed by default on ubuntu, wine1.5/1.6 seems to search for fonts only inside .../windows/fonts/ and ignoring the fonts of the host system (seems a wine bug to me)
- in fact, copying opens__.ttf (aka opensymbol) inside the wine's windows/fonts/ folder, then the symbols (arrows, smiley, ....) are well displayed.
So to resume : only opensymbol is well used if wine find it inside its bottle, but it might also find it inside the host system.
