Here's an updated version of the patch that works against 1.1.38. There was one of the segments that was failing due to a new variable declaration in that build.
I'm hoping that curan and/or cruiseoveride would be willing to try rebuilding with the new patch and testing it.
I've updated my system to Lucid Lynx Alpha 2 and that seems to have fixed some of my glx info issues but I'm still not getting DRI detection (possibly due to a continuing 32bit/64bit mismatch). So I can verify that the Mesa/ATI detection code is being executed, but it's only detecting caps for DirectX8. That shouldn't be a problem for cruiseoverride however, and his card should actually detect as a CARD_ATI_RADEON_HD4800 (0x944c, which should allow it to use more video memory for textures and therefore give better performance), and curan's should show as a CARD_ATI_RADEON_9500.
