Summary: Only first USB joystick (js0) of two is activated/available with Wine Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: heliflyer@arcor.de
My two USB-joysticks (js0, js1) - which are pedals and joystick - work without problems with all native Linux simulations like FlightGear, Torcs, etc.
With Wine and all Windows simulations ONLY the first joystick (js0) is activated/available, no matter which order I use.
It is not a matter of the second joystick (js1), if I plug it as js0 it is working/available in the sim and the former js0 - now js1 - is now not available.
A trace with "WINEDEBUG=+dinput" is attached.

Hi Vitaliy, thank you very much for the fast reply.
I "chmod 777 event*" and it works.
There are now two additional entries in the joystick selection menu => event3 and event4. In total I find 3 entries: HIDxxxx (=js0), event3 (=js0), event4 (=js1).
Hopefully the O/S does not reset the status of /dev/input/event* once I restart my PC.
This was very important for me, therefore once again thanks a lot :-)

--- Comment #4 from Georg Vollnhals heliflyer@arcor.de 2008-10-21 18:40:03 --- I am using Wine 1.1.6 - snapshot from Oct. 20 Georg

--- Comment #5 from Georg Vollnhals heliflyer@arcor.de 2008-10-23 15:04:55 --- A last remark from my side: This "trick" works very fine BUT you have to "chmod" the event* files every time you start your PC as the system sets all back. Therefore I hope the Wine developers can find another way to solve this bug in the long time. Regards Georg

--- Comment #6 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-10-23 16:15:37 --- Closing invalid. Open bug with out distro to configure HAL properly so you have read/write access to joystick devices. Those are user devices and you (as user) have to have access to them.

--- Comment #7 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-10-23 16:16:12 --- Invalid. Not Wine bug. Wine can't access something that system doesn't have proper permissions set on.
