Bug ID: 41172 Summary: Epic Games Launcher crashes in win7 wine Product: Wine Version: 1.9.16 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: plata@mailbox.org Distribution: ---
Created attachment 55405 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=55405 libcef.dll error message
It is possible to run Epic Games Launcher as described in the AppDB if using winxp mode. However, Unreal Engine projects and Paragon need win7. With win7, the launcher crashes in libcef.
I assume that this is the same issue which occurs in steamwebhelper.exe in a win7 wine.

I tried to install the installer in xp mode and I end up with this issue
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x19c748: "glDeleteShader failed because (depending on the operation) a referenced binding point is empty; a referenced name is not the name of an object; or the given name is otherwise not valid to this operation (GL_INVALID_VALUE)".
and the installer fails to update itself.

For the failing update: try "-SkipBuildPatchPrereq".
I do not get the error you are describing. However, I can also not run Epic Games Launcher (same as in bug 41258). Seems like Epic updated the launcher to a newer UE4 version.

--- Comment #5 from winetest@luukku.com --- I retested this bug and the behaviour changes when you set windows version 7.
But I don't see libcef issue. This bug indeed feels like bug 41258.

Based on this shouldnt this bug be marked as dupe of bug 41258?
I just today tested epic launcher in clean wineprefix (default win7 windows) and I don't see any crash (see the title of this bug) but I experienced bug 41258. Though my test was done with wine-staging 2.6.
If the bug can't be reproduced anymore it should be closed.

--- Comment #7 from plata@mailbox.org --- I get #41258 immediately when I start so I cannot tell if this bug is fixed or not.

If it can't be reproduced anymore the bug should be closed. Maybe solve worksforme since it's not clear what happened.

--- Comment #9 from Louis Lenders xerox_xerox2000@yahoo.co.uk --- I suspect the original bug was also a duplicate of bug 42014, but as already stated the installer got frequently updated. There is already a new bugreport for this launcher.
I propose for now I abandon this bug, but @plata: If you still have the original installer that exposes the crash from this bugreport, please feel free to reopen this bug.
I agree with ``luukku`` there`s no need to keep multiple bugreports open for one launcher...
