Bug #: 31788 Summary: Run the tests in Wine on Mac OS X Product: Wine-Testbot Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: fgouget@codeweavers.com Classification: Unclassified
Just like it would be useful to run the test in Wine on Linux and FreeBSD (see bug 31787), it would be useful to run them on Mac OS X.
However whereas setting up a Linux VM is easy, doing so with Mac OS X seems to be much trickier, both technically and due to the EULA. In particular it may require running the VM on real Apple hardware (so no rack mounting for this one?). There's also the question about whether this would make for a meaningful test system.
So if we exclude VMs, this bring us back to getting tests to run on real hardware (bug 31786).

--- Comment #1 from François Gouget fgouget@codeweavers.com 2012-11-11 22:20:30 CST --- Dan Kegel did some Googling on this and came up with interesting results. I'm copying them here from the wine-devel email thread to simplify future access. http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2012-November/097671.html http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2012-November/097677.html

--- Comment #2 from Qian Hong fracting@gmail.com --- Travis CI supports build and test C language projects as well as many other language projects on both Linux and Mac.
I've successfully(?) build Wine64 on Linux VM on Travis CI, but failed to run test. I haven't try build Wine on Mac on Travis CI yet.

--- Comment #4 from Qian Hong fracting@gmail.com --- Update: We've successfully compile Wine for Mac on Travis CI, however, there is no monitor or virtual monitor in Travis CI VMs, so a lot of Wine tests fail.
